Tucked into the hills of Silverado Canyon, Rancho Las Lomas is far enough out that it stops feeling like Orange County the moment you arrive. You pass through the big wooden gates, the noise falls away, and the estate takes over.
The property covers 32 private acres of Spanish-style architecture, terracotta, stone pathways, and gardens that have clearly had decades to fill in. Antique lamps, aged tile, fountains, ivy-covered casitas. It’s a place that has always been here, which is a rare thing to find in Southern California. For couples who want a venue with real character already built in, this is a strong place to start.
The Ceremony Spaces
El Teatro is one of the most recognizable ceremony spaces in Orange County, and for good reason. It's an open-air theater set under mature oak and sycamore trees, centered on a marble stage. At the front, tucked into the covered gazebo, there's a tile mosaic that's genuinely beautiful and gives the space its anchor before you add a single flower.
That's the thing we love most about El Teatro: it doesn't ask for much. The tree canopy, the bistro lighting, the tilework, and the sheer scale of the space already do the heavy lifting. Florals get to be the finishing touch instead of the whole story.

El Teatro seats up to 350, or 450 for a cocktail-style reception, so it gives you room without losing its sense of intimacy.
La Terraza has a different feel. A sweeping staircase, a dense green backdrop, more enclosed and a little more dramatic. It feels like a pocket of the foothills all its own. It also seats up to 350.
Both spaces photograph beautifully throughout the year, and they're at their fullest in late spring and early fall when the greenery peaks.
How the Evening Flows
One of the best things about Rancho Las Lomas is how many ways the night can unfold. The estate gives you several ceremony and reception combinations, so we can build the flow around your guest count, the season, and the look you're going for.
A few of the setups couples tend to choose:
Ceremony at La Terraza, reception at El Teatro
Ceremony at El Teatro, then flip El Teatro for the reception
Ceremony at either space, reception in the Grand Salon
Reception at El Teatro, then move into the Grand Salon for an indoor after party
Guests get to move through the property over the course of the night, and each space has its own texture and mood. From a planning side, that range is a gift. It gives us creative room without making the logistics harder.
Whatever the flow, we almost always steer cocktail hour to the fountain pool. Guests can spread out under the trees with the architecture and greenery around them, and a guitarist, violinist, or small instrumental group here sets the tone for everything that follows.
For bigger guest counts, El Teatro holds up to 350 seated, though we usually suggest keeping it closer to 200 to 220 if you want a full dance floor and easy movement. The Grand Salon seats up to 200 for dinner and dancing.
A Real Plan B
Because a wedding booking comes with full access to the venue, the Grand Salon is right there as an indoor option if the weather turns. No scramble, no drop-off in the atmosphere, and we can make the call and execute the shift smoothly even up to two weeks before your date.
Having that built into the property is a big part of why couples can stay relaxed here. You're never one forecast away from a crisis.

Venue rental runs from $5,500 for weekday events up to $12,500 for Saturdays, and covers:
Six hours of event time, with a midnight end
Two on-site getting-ready suites, available starting at 10 am
200 willow chairs plus the essential tables
Bistro string lighting in El Teatro
Event security
Food and beverage minimums apply Friday through Sunday and land between $8,000 and $12,000 depending on the date. (See our blog post on accurately estimating catering costs) Catering, bar, staffing, rentals, and production all run through 24 Carrots Catering & Events, which operates Rancho Las Lomas as part of its collective. Having one experienced hospitality team over the culinary and operational side makes a real difference on the day, and if you like the idea of that much cohesion behind the scenes, it's a genuine plus.
A Planner's Take on the Design
From where we sit, the best thing Rancho Las Lomas offers is architectural integrity. The bones are already there: stone walls, wood beams, terracotta, greenery, iron, patterned Spanish tile. That means design gets to layer on top of something real. A few design directions we typically lean to:
Warm neutrals, soft blues, and creamy florals to soften all the stone
Earthy palettes that pick up the canyon around you
Plenty of candlelight to catch the architectural lines after dark
One or two statement ceremony installations, placed where they'll count
You're refining a space that already has a point of view.
