Why You Should Consider an Unplugged Wedding

Our Blissfully Styled team is dedicated to creating memorable experiences for our couples, allowing you and your families to savor every moment of your special day. That’s why we encourage our clients to have an unplugged wedding. Here, we break down why unplugging will create a positive and blissful celebration for you and everyone you love.

Leave the photos to the pros

You’re probably spending a good chunk of your budget on professionals to capture your entire celebration. You owe it to your future self to ensure those pros are able to provide high-quality, unobstructed photos. Limiting the use of digital devices eliminates the risk of amateur photographers or guests interfering with those shots. (Think: seeing the only aisle shots in your gallery with your great aunt  leaning into the aisle holding her phone out.)  Removing the threat of a phone popping up in a sea of guests gives your photo team the chance to capture genuine moments and emotions. Plus, do you know what those phone camera flashes do to your pro’s equipment?? Spoiler alert: It’s not good… and could cause a pro to completely miss out on capturing a special moment in a forever photo.

Preserve the intimacy and sacredness of your nuptials

Asking your loved ones to keep their phones in their pockets or clutch, (or, better yet, their hotel room) encourages guests to be fully present and engaged in the ceremony, as it is happening, and without interruptions. Leaving the phones off, locked, and tucked away gives guests the chance to focus on the emotional and meaningful aspects of your ceremony without external disruptions. Imagine saying your vows and someone’s phone rings, or WORSE, an annoying alarm goes off! Eliminating uninvited distractions allows your officiant to stay focused and keep the ceremony flowing flawlessly.

Enhance your guests’ experience and participation

Encourage your guests to connect with each other - and you two - on a deeper level, promoting real-life social connections by ditching their devices. Isn’t in-person, live communication and conversation leaps and bounds better than tagging and “liking” each other online? By discouraging social media, you’ll also be eliminating potential underlying pressures felt by guests to document and post, rather than being fully present. I’ve been a guest at weddings, I know it’s hard not to ditch conversations for a good photo-op elsewhere. But trust me: Stay present, and post later!

Practice proper social media etiquette

Imagine, it’s your wedding day and someone posts a shot of you from an awkward angle or in a rare moment when you’re NOT smiling. Or, a guest posts photos of your décor and design for the world to see, before you are even legally married? Ask your guests to respect your privacy and avoid immediate sharing of unflattering or unapproved photos. You should be able to control the release of photos of your day on your own terms.

Keep your guests and vendor team safe

Last, but just as important - your guests’ and vendors' safety comes first!  We’ve seen a guest pop up to capture a shot, just as the photographer is moving in for the same shot with their expensive equipment and bam! Collision. Keep those guests seated, and the areas where your vendors need to be, clear and free of unexpected and moving obstacles. A wedding day is full of surprises, but let’s not let broken equipment or injuries be some of them!

Our mission is to help couples create unforgettable moments and celebrate love in its purest form. By insisting on an unplugged wedding through your programs, signage, or a pre-ceremony announcement, we can preserve the intimate atmosphere, ensure high-quality professional photography, and foster genuine connections among your guests. We’re always here to guide you toward a blissful and unforgettable wedding experience, where you and your loved ones can savor every moment all day.

Team Unplugged all the way. Phones away = fully present!
