MINI SERIES: TIPS FOR A STRESS-FREE WEDDING MORNING, PT. 3

How to Keep Your Wedding Morning Stress-Free, PART 3

EVER BEEN A PART OF A WEDDING DAY THAT SEEMED OVERWHELMING AND PASSED BY IN A FLASH?   YEAH, US TOO.

After years of spending countless hours in a hotel room or bridal suite filled with some crazy crews - personally and professionally - we’ve seen all the things a couple should and should not do on their wedding morning!

Here are the do’s and don’ts to make sure your big day is as magical as you’ve envisioned and worked so hard for.  There’s a lot to share, so we broke it all down into three separate - but equally important - parts for you! If you missed them, we got you.. Here are links to Part 1 and Part 2!

For the “Woo” Couple

If you’re into the “Woo” like we are, here are a few more practices that will start your day off in the right headspace and keep you balanced and on track to a positively blissful wedding morning and day.  If “Woo” isn’t your thing, read on… maybe it will be someday!

Meditate and visualize: Meditation is a great way to calm the mind and create a feeling of peace from within.  Even just a few minutes of focused breathing can do the trick!  If you don’t currently meditate, the planning process is a great time to start.  For best results, meditate right when you open your eyes.  After clearing your mind, visualize your day and desired end result.  Picture yourself floating through your wedding day, surrounded by love and light and supported by all those you love.  Throughout the day, if anxiety starts to creep in, refocus your thoughts to this feeling from your morning meditation practice!

Say those affirmations.  Affirmations are positive statements you read aloud to help your mind stay in a positive space.  You can find lists of positive affirmations online.  Or create your own list of affirmations.  A good rule of thumb for creating your own affirmations is, as a negative thought arises, write it down and then write down the opposite to create the affirmation.  For example:

“I won’t be able to let go of control on my wedding day.” >>> “I can easily go with the flow on our wedding day.”

“Uncle Bob will create a scene and stress me out.”  >>> “I am surrounded by only love, happiness and peace on our wedding day.”

Begin compiling a list of affirmations in a notebook several weeks before the big day, and don’t forget that notebook on your packing list.  Affirmations are also a great practice to start using today and through the rest of your planning.

Try EFT tapping: Emotional Freedom Technique utilizes acupressure on your meridians - or energy hotspots - to refocus your body’s energy.  Tapping certain areas of your body will help restore energy where it’s needed. (Where won’t it be needed during the planning process?!)  There is a definite formula to this, so we suggest doing your own research to see how it can work for you.  Once mastered, this practice can be used in your morning routine as well as throughout the day as anxieties and stressors pop up.

Just breathe.  Breathwork is another amazing resource for refocusing energy!  It can be used in connection with meditation and is often incorporated into yoga practices.  Google “breathwork” for more ideas, or ask us for professional resources.
