Wedding Planner ... Necessary or Nah?
We are women (and Men), hear us roar! The things we can single handedly accomplish these days from our phone on our way to Starbucks is truly incredible. When I was getting married, I was under the impression that I was superwoman. I decided,“I got this, I don’t need a wedding planner”. Between my own vision, my Mom and my Aunt who is basically a party planner, we have this on lock. We went to the farmers market, ordered some flowers, bought signs from HomeGoods, ordered candles from Amazon, made a few trips to Costco and we were were solid!
Since our wedding was going to be at a Private Estate I thought“This will be a breeze. We can basically do whatever we want and just call it a ‘Party’, right?”. Well, 200 chairs, chargers and forks later I realized I was wrong!
About 4 months into our 13 month engagement, I asked myself, “If I’m getting my hair done while my MOH is in the make-up chair and my mom is helping my Grandma get ready, who is going to set up the cocktail hour appetizers and who is going to hand out the bubbles??”. Enter... Wedding Planner! Panic set in and I went straight to Insta”glam” to find help. After scrolling through and clicking about 1,000 hashtags and @’s I narrowed down my top 3 choices of event planners that made the best “first impressions”.

Now that you are here, I hope we are making a good showing (fingers crossed).
Once my top three were chosen, I started making phone calls and sending emails. Through this process I was able to ask my own questions regarding pricing and services and then eventually set up meetings. I can honestly say within the first 2 minutes of each meeting I knew if it was a match or not. Like finding your fiance, when you know, you KNOW! There was an instant connection and we felt truly confident that we could trust them with capturing our personal style, vibe, and vision.

It is easy to get wrapped up in Pinterest boards and Instagram feeds and forgetthat there is so much more that goes on behind the scenes in order to make that vision board come to life.
Our tip for choosing a Wedding Planner is, first and foremost, pay attention to how they make you feel. No one wants to be bossed around and told what they should or should not like. Your planner should listen, give advice and follow your lead when it comes to personal taste and ideas while offering their best professional opinion and the truth.
